Upcycled iPad Sleeve

I recently pledged to buy or make handmade gifts for everyone if at all possible. It's been fun and fairly easy so far because I've been making gifts for girls. When my husbands birthday rolled around last weekend, I was stumped at what to do. After thinking about it for a little while, I gave up and decided to get him this cool book and some red Converse. A few days before his birthday, he asked me if I would make him a padded sleeve for his new iPad. Yea! He wanted a heavy, rougher material for the outside...something like denim or canvas. He found an old messenger bag that he no longer uses, and asked if I could "upcycle" the canvas to make his case.

A "Before" shot of the messenger bag...
He gave me an old t-shirt he loves and wanted me to use it for the lining. I cut up every bit of that bag and sewed the pieces together randomly until I had a piece of "fabric" large enough for my pattern requirements. He wanted a little bit of the logo to show. It actually worked out nicely.

He loves the logo on the t-shirt and wanted me to make it show when the case is open.

The iPad fits in nice and snug.

It was fun crafting for my hubby! I am so glad he was creative enough to think of this project as well as the use of materials. He's quite the craftster himself!

Always,

Amanda
