Homemade Refrigerator Magnets

As a mother, you can never have too many refrigerator magnets to hang your precious little one's artwork, important reminders and other what-nots. I found this easy recipe for "Bake Art Dough" on the side of a box of cookie cutters that I have, and I decided it was time to make some fridge magnets. To make your own magnets, first mix up a batch of dough using the following recipe.

4 Cups of All-Purpose Flour
1 Cup of Salt
1 1/2 Cups of Water

Mix to achieve a dough-like consistency. Roll out on a floured surface until dough is about 1/8" thick. (This is important. If the dough is too thick, your magnets will be lumpy.) Use cookies cutters or your own artistic skills to make shapes. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Allow them to cool.

We decided to make alphabet magnets. After our letters cooled, we got out the paint and I let Buddy have at it. He loves to paint! After the paint dried, I attached sticky back magnets that I purchase in the craft section at Wal-Mart. Aside from being a little lumpy (because my dough was too thick), they turned out great!

Always,
